The Star Model BM is a single-action semi-automatic pistol that fires the 9 mm Para pistol cartridge. It was produced by Star Bonifacio Echeverria, S.A. in Spain. Although its external appearance resembles the classic M1911, its design is different in several respects. For example, the Star does not have the 1911's grip safety. In addition, the thumb safety on the Star disengages the sear, whereas it blocks the motion of the sear on a 1911. The pistol is fed by an 8-round detachable box magazine. This is the Colt Government Tribute, a replica of the iconic Colt M1911A1 made under license from Colt by Walther. In fact, it is the only fully-licensed replica of the M1911A1. Unlike the original, however, this extremely-faithful reproduction is chambered in 22 long rifle. Controls are identical to the original, and this pistol features all-metal construction, a 5-inch barrel, fixed sights, a thumb & grip safety, and a 12-round magazine.
