It is often referred to as "the gun that won the New West" because of its widespread popularity among single-action shooters and cowboy action competitors. The Ruger Vaquero combines the original Old West single-action look and feel with new features. The mid-size steel frame and cylinder are scaled-down to the same size as the original 1955 Ruger Blackhawk®, closely resembling the classic single-action revolvers of the late 1800's.
Classic Lines, Classic Feel, Modern Features. The Ruger® New Model Blackhawk® is the most advanced single-action revolver ever made. While retaining the solid frame, feel and comfortable grip of the classic single-actions, they feature Ruger’s patented transfer bar ignition system with loading gate interlock, an all-coil spring mechanism, adjustable sights, and frame-mounted firing pin. New Model Blackhawk revolvers have earned a reputation as the best value on the market due to their durability and affordability. Convertible models come equipped with an extra cylinder and are popular with shooters who appreciate the classic single-action revolver but opt for the versatility of being able to use more than one caliber in their handgun. With its interchangeable cylinder, Convertible models can be easily converted from one caliber to another without the use of tools. The Ruger Mark IV Target is a simple, blowback-operated pistol based on the original Ruger Standard introduced in 1949. Unlike its' predecessor, however, the Mark IV Target features one-button takedown for quick and easy field-stripping and proper chamber to muzzle cleaning. A recessed button in the back of the frame allows the upper receiver to tilt up and off of the grip frame without the use of tools. It features a one-piece, precision CNC-machined grip frame, ergonomic bolt stop, and a contoured ejection port. The sighting system features an adjustable rear sight and a receiver drilled and tapped for Weaver- or Picatinny-style rail (rail not included). The ambidextrous manual safety positively locks the sear in the "SAFE" position when applied, and the safety can be converted to left-side only with included washer. The magazine drops free on release for faster reloads and a redesigned magazine disconnect safety prevents discharge when the magazine has been removed. Internal improvements include changes to the hammer, sear, bolt and firing pin for smoother, more reliable feeding. Specific features vary by model, but the legendary, one-piece barreled receiver and internal cylindrical bolt construction remain the same.
