Ruger AR556, like its more expensive cousin the SR556, is packed with

The
AR556 is direct impingement gas-operated with a 16-inch 1:8
hammer-forged barrel threaded 1/2×28. Also featured is a
windage-adjustable rear flip-up sight, a six-position telescoping
M4-style buttstock with a Mil-Spec buffer tube, M4 feed ramps, a
matte Type III hard coat oxide finish, enlarged trigger guard, a
chrome-plated bolt carrier, and an A2-style front post sight with
elevation adjustment, a bayonet lug and a Q/D attachment socket. This
rifle also comes with one 30-round Magpul PMAG.

The American series from Ruger consists of bolt-action rifles chambered from 22LR rimfire up to large centerfire rifles such as the 30-06 SPG, and were designed to be an innovative yet affordable rifle platform with models suitable for all North American game. This particular example, chambered in 22LR, features interchangeable stock modules that provide comb height options for both scope or iron sight use. The lightweight black composite stock has sling swivel studs and a 13.75" length of pull. The Marksman adjustable trigger offers a user adjustable pull weight, between 3 and 5 pounds. The Ruger Mark IV Rimfire Pistols have the classic look of the Mark III with a simple, one-button takedown for quick and easy field stripping. A recessed button in the back of the frame allows the upper receiver to tilt up and off of the grip frame without the use of tools. The bolt simply slides out of the receiver and the barrel can be properly cleaned from chamber to muzzle. The MKIV includes other significant improvements such as a one-piece grip frame that is precision CNC-machined from a solid piece of aluminum alloy; an ambidextrous manual safety and a redesigned bolt stop for more ergonomic operation. The magazine drops free on release for faster reloads and a redesigned magazine disconnect safety prevents discharge when the magazine has been removed. Internal improvements include changes to the hammer, sear, bolt and firing pin for smoother, more reliable feeding. The Ruger AR-556 Pistol features a lower receiver that is fitted with an adjustable pistol stabilizing brace to aid in accuracy, balance and recoil management, the slim 9" handguard is free-floating for accuracy and provides enhanced ergonomics and support. Magpul M-LOK accessory attachment slots along the 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 positions. Made from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum forging, the flattop upper receiver includes a forward assist, dust cover and brass deflector. The bolt is machined from 9310 alloy steel and is shot peened and pressure (proof) tested to ensure strength, structural integrity and durability. The twist rate stabilizes bullets from 35 to 77 grains and the 5.56 NATO chamber allows the use of both 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem. ammunition. M4 feed ramps provide improved reliability and the matte black oxide finish reduces glare and provides corrosion resistance. A matte black oxide finish on the exterior of the bolt carrier provides corrosion resistance.
